India made houses for the people of Indian origin, Sri Lankan PM said, thank you to Modi.
India has handed over the houses built in the first link under Sri Lanka’s Tea Plantation Area worth 35 million US dollars for the people of Indian origin. Most of these are Tamil, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in video conferencing in a special program organized for handing over the house to the Dusaneni Estate of the city of Nuwara Eliya. These houses were built under the Indian Housing Scheme. This is the largest home project in any country by India. Modi said that we have always dreamed of peaceful, safe and prosperous Sri Lanka where all the progress and developmental parameters are fulfilled. About 404 houses have been assigned to the people of Indian origin, mostly Tamils.
The Indian High Commissioner here said that the new houses, including the ownership of the land, were handed over by the Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Vikramasinghe, India’s High Commissioner Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Minister Palani Digambaram, and the new leader Gyantha Karunathilka. The Indian mission tweeted, “Despite the bad weather and the rain, more than 1500 people participated in the program. ” Modi said that India will keep Sri Lanka in a special place in its Neighborhood First Policy. Modi said that out of 60,000, about 4700 houses have become so far. The grant of $ 35 million given to build these homes is one of the largest grants granted by India to any country. He said, “Sri Lanka is special for us and it will be special. ‘
