Ministry of Defense signed a contract with a defense company on Monday to purchase 1.86 lakh bulletproof jackets at a cost of Rs.639 crores. The ministry said in a statement that the contract was finalized after the “successful” field trials. The contract was received by indigenous defense producer SMPP Pvt.

The ministry said in the statement that. “The purchase of 1,86,138 bulletproof jackets has been signed by a major contract through capital procurement,” “It has been said that the new bulletproof jacket will provide ‘360-degree protection’ to the soldiers in the fight, including the protection from hard ” steel core ” bullets. Meanwhile, Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Monday that interest in Indian missiles of many countries is on the rise and the government wants to sell them to allied countries. Referring to ongoing discussions on topics like price, the Defense Minister said that reaching the verdict on a deal is sometimes confusing but interest in Indian missiles has increased. He was addressing a function of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Many countries have shown interest in Indian missiles. Countries like Vietnam are keen to buy supersonic BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from India. The Defense Minister said that we will address Defense capabilities posted in Indian Missions abroad and encourage the exploitation of Indian manufacturing experts. Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Monday that interest in Indian missiles in many countries is on the rise and the government wants to sell them to allied countries. Sitharaman said, “Interest in Indian missiles is increasing and we are focusing on this. “She said that India wants to sell them to allied countries. Earlier on Sunday, Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said that getting self-reliance in the defense sector is important for the country. While addressing the students of IIT Madras, he said, “In India, emphasizing on innovation is essential to achieving the goal of self-reliance. Youth of India will play a major role in future for indigenization of defense industry. ‘
