India’s Lakshmi Puri To Receive ‘Power Of One’ Award at United Nation


New york : the United Nations headquarters, six world’s top diplomats, including an Indian woman, have been honored with the first Deepawali Power of One award. This award was given in view of their contribution in making world a more ideal, peaceful and secure place for all. The US Postal Service had issued a postage stamp in the festival of Deepawali last year. These awards were given on the first anniversary of this award.

The recipients include Britain’s outgoing ambassador to the United Kingdom Matthew Wrrrift, Ambassador of the United Kingdom Nawaf Salam and UN Chief of Land, Laxmi Puri. In a statement, it was said that this festival was jointly organized by the permanent missionaries of Belarus, Georgia and India.

Nearly two dozen countries, including America, Britain, France, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Spain, Kuwait and Algeria, were its co-organizers. The event took place at the Trusteeship Council Chambers at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
